Title: Port Issues
Post by: X3n0ph083 on July 23, 2013, 10:27:18 AM
Hi guys

I can play Mythruna fine on singleplayer, but whenever I try to connect to a multiplayer server it tells me that the port is blocked. I have unblocked the port via my router's config pages, but no port sniffer is picking it up. I have a Zyxel router, if that helps. As far as I can tell, the rules are set up correctly so I'm not sure what else it could be.

Any ideas?

I'd revert the ports you opened and ask Paul to reset his router.  ;)

if you look around the forums people complain about this about once a week.. something is acting up with Pauls' router or the actual server, because it used to never do this.

I reset the server... it has been a while.  So you might want to try again.

I used to reset the server occasionally.  I don't have time to pay much attention to it anymore so it goes weeks without being reset and something happens.  <shrug>  I blame windows.

Linux will always be free.. eheh.. I am hoping to take an old machine of mine one day and turn it into a server or when hosts open up for mythruna :D

I have linux machines here but running on a Windows machine was a conscious choice since that's what most players will be doing.

Oh dear, I think I may come across as rather dumb here, but... I need to donate and get a membership for the actual website to join don't I??

Waiting for a little money to come in so I can do just that already.

Three separate things right now:
1) forum account (is free, hello. :))
2) mythruna.com (is not free but you don't really need it yet... it just marks you as a donator)
3) my public game server... which you create an account on the first time you login.

Eventually I will have to provide a way to sync a (3) account with a (2) account because soon donators will get some in-game benefits.  But right now you can fully play for free.

P.S.: If you are still having problems connecting then the issue may be at your end... but I will reset my server again just in case.

Ok I understand, thanks for clearing that up.

It's connected now, thanks for the advice. Time to check out the server!
