Title: More far horizon pics...
Post by: pspeed on March 05, 2013, 12:27:17 AM
More before/after pics of far terrain:  http://i.imgur.com/OpbqJCD.jpg

Note: hard-edge still intentional and temporary.

I added a toggle to turn it on and off so now it's easy for me to make these side-by-side examples. :)

i know to some people this feature may seem minor, but this makes the game feel so much bigger, and i love that. can't wait to see it implemented  :)

Agreed. I feel I may not use this feature if it lags me :-\
I doubt it will, because you will make it amazing :)

I guess we'll see.

If you zoom into the pic, you can see that the framerate impact is pretty minimal.  In one case, it even went up... which tends to imply that small differences may not have anything to do with real performance.

I'd expect that the difference between 96 m clip and 128 m clip would be greater than turning this on and off.  So it may be that running at 96 m clip and far terrain on is a better experience (and probably faster) than just running at 128 m clip with far terrain off.
