Playing around with a better looking sun. After a few hours of tweaking, this is what I have: Left is before, right is after. It definitely looks more like a sun now.

Looks very nice ... does this mean sand won't be bright enough to blind someone now?

f9 is a very nice button
Except it will go away or change when there are more fine grained video options. It turns off all post processing which makes underwater look like nothing, etc.. I've taken to pointing to photos now and saying "too much bloom". And the really painful part is all of the videos uploaded with it turned off because F9 is also the default hot key for fraps recording.

Say the opposite of these words: 1)Always. 2)Coming. 3)From. 4)Take. 5)Me. 6)Down.

That was always the plan. The moon is already half dark but the texture mapping is screwed up and I never bothered to fix it. I rotated it to the one position where it looks half decent.

You could change the afternoon sun from being a giant white blur with no white circle though right?

It has a circle. Maybe it's just hard to see in that pic.

The sun looks definatelly better now. As far as the bright sand is concerned i have a suggestion. How about implementing something similar to those guys on terasology? see the pictures below when you walk closer to the sand the post proccessing effects gradually fade out far distance getting closer

I will have simulated HDR someday... and snow/sand blindness, too. Until then... it is what it is.
