Title: Daily Discussion Question #39 (10/1/14)
Post by: Rayblon on October 01, 2014, 10:26:53 AM
Sorry for the late question... I've gotten a sore throat bug and have been pretty busy keeping it under control and not aggravating it too much.

To fit the theme... What was the worst, most agonizing illness you, personally, ever had to deal with?

Either appendicitis or the stomach flu... both are agonizing...

Appendicitis is like... every time you do anything your appendix feels like a red hot knife went through it.

And the stomach flu is like... Your entire body is sore, especially your abdomen after all the throwing up you end up doing.

Stomach flu is bad, of course.

I also had one illness where I was throwing up every 15 to 20 minutes... I was having to drink stuff just to have something to vomit because it was becoming so painful.  This went on for several hours until my mom was able to get some medicine to stop the vomiting.  I had to take it and then if I threw it up, to retake it again.  I threw up this blue-green (in my memory) foamy stuff a couple times before I finally stopped.  That was a pretty crappy day... I was a young teen at the time, I think.

This almost happened to me as an adult once, too, but after two hours of it a friend brought us some Peptobismal and it was able to take care of it after a few doses.

Having the chickenpox as an older teen sucked pretty bad, too.  I was down for a week... over winter break even.  So on the one hand I didn't miss any school and on the other hand I was sick my whole vacation.  I still have a scar on my face from that.

-snip-

Let's talk about that.

Evidently a patient zero of ebola in the US popped up recently the afflicted texan is the first, and so far only case. He has been quarantined and appears to be the only carrier. Here's to hoping it doesn't become an epidemic.

There is rumor of a case in Hawaii also. Unless it mutates to be airborne the risk of spread is minimal but I damn sure wouldn't let my kids go to school this month if I lived in Dallas.

That sounds foreboding still... All it takes is one sneeze... I think...
