They sort of have to since they are shunned by their tribe once they lose the ability to fly.

Wow thats deep. Just curious, is creating this character personality system very intensive on the cpu, especially in a larger, more populated town? Also, are you planning on giving the ai their personality when they are first created, or will it change over time, if say their house is destroyed? It will be awkward seeing ai walking in what was once his home, dumbfounded that he cannot complete his role as housekeeper (though he may storm some other poor guys house next door)

and I can tell you from having played with it some of them look really nice with proper settings.

You make me very eager ..........  Cheesy

haha, this game would be epic only with current mode + smart AI. We are so selfish, wanted Paul to make it perfect.  Wink Your doing a great job though, and hopefully things ideas and the end of the tunnel, at least AI, isn't too far. (Unfortunately in Mythruna, one cannot see the end of the tunnel farther than the clip  Tongue)
64  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Objects on: June 28, 2012, 07:18:41 PM
i have 32 and 64 bit installed (64 for waterfox, but others tend to use it)

If it helps, I got the fence to work before but it needed an ugly addition.

here, ("O" is post, "x" is blank, "l" "-" are bars)
Code:
x x O - -
x x l x x
x x l x x
fix,
Code:
O x x x x
x x O - -
x x l x x
x x l x x

do you see the O top left? That virtually creates a 5x5 square instead of a 3x3 square, which centers it correctly. The extra O will not blend in, and especially in my design, it will sit on top of the sloped corner.

Paul, I like your idea about underground blocks. If you can get that to work without hindering blueprint editor ease, I bet it will work great!

Aside- It took me about 10 minutes to get the code correct. I hope you guys have "Lucida Console" font (native in xp notepad)

So I was messing around with object creating and placing and I decided to make a fence (also a ladder but that is more efficient as a block). I came across something very annoying. One can move the block but getting it into the perfectly right place is near impossible. If one tries to fix it via blueprint editor, the block gets centered about center of mass (don't have correct word...). I was wondering if you can implement an invisible block in blueprint editor that changes item's center, yet when the object goes physical, the block itself won't cause invisible physical bumps. I know its a lot but I think it is necessary once you start to focus on object placement. Images always help  Grin

I can line the object perfectly if I place a block in the editor that completes an imaginary square with the fence bars, to center post in middle, but the looks messy on a slope  Cry

haha, This exact same thought came into my head yesterday too.  Wink I was thinking more in the line of a castle (or large town) who has a ruler that will hire a small army that will walk the streets. My train of thought was moving the same as tsuku though in regards of absolute friendly/enemy. I knew that wasn't were you were headed since I also thought that would limit the rpg style of the game.

Also, since right now the world is half water (should change when you get different land types?), I think you should add many fish. I don't know if all races can swim (under or over) but having both good, eatable fish and bad man-eating fish in there would make the water pretty interesting. (haha, ships would be epic but it would be hard to make them move. Maybe adding a special button on object maker that allows specific objects to be boardable and wood floats/ stone sinks/ etc)

Sorry for messy post. Just woke up, might edit it later to make more sense  Grin

Wow. I bet you already know this but mortared rock is perfect. Even the noise on it works amazing. The only thing you should look at is the noise of the cobblestone now. I usually lay cobblestone as small road and the noise makes it look bad up close (the green doesn't fit very well and is a bit strong). But again, amazing stuff here. Great work!

Pictures are worth a thousand words. I prefer small pictures taken from key angles (I am going to figure out how to use the space but will create my own style, if that helps you know where to take the screens).

Also, I decided to post the world so far online, although I haven't found a post yet. It will be shy of 100mb but I cannot possibly show enough details for some people. I'm a touchy-feely person when it comes to details and I bet some others are too. Link may be posted soon.

Also again, I can't help thinking to the future where there may be people walking through the stronghold. Of course I'll have to build another stronghold Tongue
70  General Category / General Discussion / Re: News??? on: June 25, 2012, 07:50:16 PM
I just have to ask, How much of the AI have you actually got done? When the day comes when you have AI that can do all of that plus the amazing land and scenes created, the game would be a new level of rpg gaming. It will be EPIC.  Shocked
71  General Category / Tech Support / Re: client logs on: June 25, 2012, 04:32:48 PM
I'm guessing one can just delete the client logs since the dump data instead of read? Also, they get recreated. It's what I've been doing anyway.

Can you be more specific about what you mean by small?  How many blocks by how many blocks?

Of course. If you see the last image, the one where mythruna is half the screen, I have built a blueprint for the city. Each cell of the spreadsheet equates to 1x1 block in mythruna, so it is perfectly proportional. The size is variable but a 6x8 is used a lot and most are a little bigger.
73  General Category / General Discussion / Re: News??? on: June 25, 2012, 02:01:20 PM
No.  I think they need to stop adding stuff and just rest on their laurels now. Smiley   Heheh.

that would surely make it a bit easier for you, wouldn't it?  Wink

No prob about shadows, i fixed all within stronghold and you have more important things to do.

haha, sucks. I almost burned out my new battery and it says 100c so...

Of course I'll post progress. Still, if any of you have good small house ideas, or screenshots from the public server, I would like to know. Small is not easy with big blocks Tongue
