No.  The next update is concentrating on physics and getting the new engine ready.  After that I will start on proper AI for creatures, etc..  Hopefully the physics engine is far enough along by then to have combat.

Resource tracking and acquisition should also be ready in this or the next release.

I'm not sure yet.  Giant ants are a strong contender because they incorporate several levels of AI (from low level tactical to unified "hive mind") and because they are world maintenance creatures (they clean up some level of the junk that players leave around).  They are nice because they otherwise don't exhibit strong intelligence and have no conversational ability.

If I get to a wolf-like creature then I will also do dogs and some kind of prey wild-life, ie: a rabbit-like creature for the wolves to eat.  Dogs would be pets... or at least pet-capable.

Humanoid NPCs are high on my list just to at least work out the conversation system... even if I don't make them otherwise "alive" for a while.  The intelligent races will be the last AI to be "done" but are going to be necessary to have a presence long before that... even if it's just to stand around town and sell stuff or provide info to the player.
