Poetry is an ancient art form that is popular to this day due to the freedom that the writers are alotted. One such form of poetry the the haiku, which has only one rule. For most haikus, the rule is that they must be written such that there are three lines, each of which housing specific numbers of syllables. The first and third lines must contain only five syllables, while the second line must contain seven syllables.
Before writing a haiku of your own, it is important, though not essential to note that a haiku's original purpose was to describe a natural phenomena without any verbal trickery, and in the simplest and most concise way possible. Haiku's are involved for the reader because of this simplicity, however, because its' deceptively simple design lends to a vast array of deeper interpretations of the work.
