Title: Boat/ship competition
Post by: BigredRm on January 08, 2013, 07:25:56 PM
There is a boat/ship contest at 1727/719
I have a big dock on the edge of my property.
If you finish a ship there post a picture of it here.

Ooooh... sounds like a nice contest.  I may have to submit an entry myself. :)

Bigger is not better. It all about attention to detail. The way the dock is buildt you only have one sid of the dock. I have jazzed the docks up with objects. Also there is a monster attack coming from the end of the dock.

In this case bigger IS better. Because more detail you can add. I was joking about making a giant ship anyway you silly.

As per the pictures, I was the only one who built so I win by default.

Been too busy making it better to make boats* :) I didn't get around to it because I'm just not interested in Mythruna much. I'll get back to working on my texture pack tomorrow though :). I'll make a Minecraft texturepack without bump-mapping because it confuses me trying to hand make it.

Patience is the key.

Bump mapping isn't hard.  I do all of mine by hand.  Normal mapping by hand is nearly impossible... better to use a plugin to generate it from the bump map.

So Paul had a very valid excuse. I am disappointed in everyone else though. Shame!

o.o you said it isn't hard and you do it by hand, and that by hand is nearly impossible... that adds another thing to the list that shows you are a Java God..

Bump mapping != normal mapping.  Bump mapping is painting gray scale "elevations".  Normal mapping is normal vectors encoded as RGB values.  I've hand painted one but I did a lot of math to do it and then set very specific pixel colors.

I think we've taken this thread off topic enough.  No need to respond to this... in fact, I'll delete it if you do.
