Title: Impressive Buildings
Post by: Tamarie on April 22, 2014, 01:46:28 PM
I've come across some amazing construction, especially Baal Garnaal's City and the area south and SW of the Enterprise. I wish those responsible, and many other inventive people, would give us screenshots and videos.

Baal hasn't been on in a while.  If you mean his city with the giant harbor, that one is pretty cool.  He also did the roman town SW of the Enterprise a ways.  He created that before property and it got griefed pretty badly before I protected it.  I might have named it "Roman Town".  Baal had nice style.

For reference, my own castle is SE of the Enterprise with the five towers on top of one castle.  I don't remember what I called it... maybe Wizard's keep.  It's at the southern tip of an island.  But I actually have a lot of structures around.  The giant angled bridge, the (non functioning) drawbridge at one end and the little town there are also mine.  The ferris wheel is also mine... when physics works someday then I will make it spin.  I have a couple little thatched cottages around and a few modest houses with giant hidden basements.  If you find one with boats parked on top then that's probably mine. :)  Some of that is already featured on the web site.

I don't remember the exact coordinates anymore but there is also planned a new spawn point someday and I have a town of randomly generated buildings there.  I only put the roads and street lights in by hand.  To the east of that, I have a house in someone else's town that I tried to make into a tannery.

There are many cools things if you wander around.

If I remember the new spawn point location then I may post back.

Yes, Wizard's Keep is one of the great buildings south of Enterprise.

FYI: someday the new spawn point will be 1422 x 1181

iggyjeckel town is to the east of there and my tannery is at 2259 x 1126 but there are many cool things in that town, as I recall.  A giant cathedral nearby somewhere, too.

OK, I'll go exploring some more. And that bridge is super! I wonder why people destroy others' creations. And what's with all the random chairs just anywhere?

Random chairs = people who don't know how to place objects but still manage to find the object placing tool.  The chair is the default so that's what they spam around.

Don't forget about the casual trolls.

The random people who would go by and destroy people's structures :P

Casual trolls?

As opposed to the dedicated trolls, I guess.  We've had a few people that systematically went from place to place randomly removing 100s of blocks from structures while laughing to each other.

I spent a solid month just adding stuff to combat griefers.  The "nerf" command is one of my favorite passive aggressive troll-responses.  I can nerf a player and to them it looks like they can still remove blocks but to everyone else their changes don't apply.  I've had to use it 3 times.  Prior to that, I had to teleport people far far far away.

The world versioning was also added in response to griefers.  Now I can revert portions of the world.  It automatically branches at midnight or I can manually branch at any time.  (Revert lets me go back to a previous branch point for some area.)

Paul, it's so good of you to work so hard to preserve others' work. I'm afraid my poor neighbors have been zapped bigtime.
You get hides for your tannery from the farm? I love those livestock. And the huge cave between iggyjeckel town and Sean and FutureB's--amazing contents. I wonder what it's for.
By the way, Sean, FutureB, and iggyjeckel, I'm a fan of both those towns. Another one, featured on a video, is Cliffside, far to the south. Complete and beautiful, just needs furnishing. The new Spawn Town's buildings happen automatically? Wow! I'd never guess.
And Moonkey, jumping down a well to access your lab--excellent!

Cliffside sounds familiar.

There really are some amazing things around.  And yes, new spawn town has entirely randomly generated buildings.  I have an admin tool that lets me click on a point on the ground and it will spawn a random one.  All I did was add streets, lights, and ladders (inside the buildings).  At the current building generation level, only the first floor gets stairs.  Sometimes I also had to carve some doorways.

Thanks! Most of the credit needs to go to FutureB. Did you see the airship? I recently finished it.

Shucks! I was just there, but I didn't note the coordinates. What kind of scaffolding did that take? I pretended I was stuck in a hole and explored it. So many cannons! Nice job!

I don't know if you could call it scaffolding, but there were platforms all over the place to build it. I wish I took a screenshot of it.

The coordinates are ~2000 x 1000 behind our castle. Is it possible to extend the property to include the ship? at the moment only half of the ship is covered by a small bit of property.

Yeah, I can totally give you more property... we can either extend the existing one (I can do that by myself) or give you a second property for it (which we'd have to be online at the same time).

For the former, I need to know exact coordinates so I can teleport and not spend too much time looking around.

The coords 2074, 814, 136 should bring you right to the ship. That would be great if you could extend the property if you have the time! :)

It's actually quite far from the town property.  Why don't we just arrange to be on at the same time and I'll give you a new property for it.

Yeah, I went to the airship and saw that the town was pretty far away... and it's already pretty big.  I think to cover the airship it has to nearly double in size.

Seemed like it would be better to just give you a new property.  If you guys just let me know in advance when you can/will be on then I can drop a property on you.  (as long as it's not between 6-12 GMT-4 then I can probably make it).

It's been a while since I've done this. Could I let my client idle tonight and you can give me the property, or if not, I can be on and attentive at 7 PM GMT-4.

I won't be back home until about 7:10 (one hour from now just to double check all of our math)... I will login and see who is in at that time.

Your stronghold--that gigantic collection of artifacts--why so hidden away? There should be signs on the water saying "This way to more things than you knew exited on/in Mythruna." I see that the horse, cow, and sheep aren't there, yet. How much of that is your invention?

I sure would like to go build another island. I am waiting on Paul to do some updating to the client when life calms down a bit. Virtual reality in the mean time.

Those islands are great fun to explore. Talk about imagination! Not to mention worn out clicking fingers, building so much.

I've come across a huge and beautiful city west and southwest of Treehouse City called or made by JP. Its World Furniture Store is great and its buildings are fully and beautifully furnished. The layout is graceful. But it's been griefed by someone with a whole lot of time to waste. He/she worked hard filling a huge area with leaves and destroying another and filling it with water. I also have free time up the ying yang, so have fixed all I could. But if JP isn't too depressed about the destruction he needs to get his city protected so he's free to continue reconstruction. Then it should be declared a tourist attraction.
