Title: Daily Trivia Question #1 (10/23/14)
Post by: Rayblon on October 23, 2014, 08:55:26 AM
The second series of questions has risen at last! This new set of questions will be a bit different from the previous "chapter". Since I'm lazy and not-so-creative, the next 50 questions will work a bit differently(unless it doesn't do too well). Instead of delving into abstract thought, I'll introduce a question or concept that has a definite answer. However, when writing your initial response, you shouldn't do any additional research on the subject. If you already know the answer, consider your thoughts had you not known it.

Now that that massive slab of introductions is out of the way, let us begin with the first question.

Cyber-pornography, born in 1994(as a result of fraud surrounding the sex.com domain), has become a staple of many people's evenings. This new sexual outlet has contributed to the moral decay of society, neurodegeneration, and increased rape cases. What, if anything, is false?

Answer: It may be surprising to some, but cyber pornography has been correlated with a decrease in rape cases, no effect on sexism against women(I'll cover this in detail later), and has no documented effect on mental capabilities (though studies suggest some mentally challenged individuals may be predisposed to pornography as an outlet/coping mechanism). The sex.com fraud is a true story, though the exact time of the site's illegal conversion into a porn site isn't known.

Sexism claim: Pornography has been linked to sexism by conservative, small sample studies, but some newer, more objective studies suggest otherwise(the effects of the material in question is still a mixed basket, but sexism is attributed to factors outside the scope of pornography).

As a very pragmatic person, myself, my opinion is swayed in favor of the material. It's a means to an end that I believe is beneficial. We're products of such actions and this realm is familiar to the most evangelical of us in one way or another(Assassin's Creed got something right after all). It's only logical that we've evolved such that we know how to handle material like this.

I don't think it increases rape cases, but I do believe in the decay of society. I go to school every day, and all I know is kids are just into inappropriate conversations, which I don't tend to favor myself. But a bonus is men are getting stronger. ;p

The one constant throughout history, even back to BC (and probably prehistory), is the belief that the next/coming generation is sliding into moral decay.

Despite 'morality' being something that does little more than oscillate.
