Welcome back.
272  Development / Blog / Re: Fallout 4... on: November 15, 2015, 03:53:58 AM
Random: as an experiment, I'm trying to use trello instead of my paper to do lists.  The board is supposedly public.  Don't know if this is the right link or not:
https://trello.com/b/ePlfYipE/mythruna-networking

Notes:
1) it's an experiment so potentially don't read too much into it at this point.
2) for a while, the to-do list will likely grow faster than the 'done' list... at least once I get started for real during Thanksgiving week.  So it's probably not as straight forward as it looks.

especially considering this one:

Could turn out come Friday night that I've forgotten a bunch of stuff since I last put it down so many months ago.

Heh heh. I've got a little bit of FO4 hype, but not nearly enough to drop more than 15$ on it. Maybe I'll partake next year. Tongue

If only they would accept bottle caps...
274  Development / Blog / Re: Fallout 4... on: November 13, 2015, 11:04:03 PM
Within 2 hours of FO4's release they had the rift working with it. I spent 2.5 days downloading the freaking game. Played a little last night. About to have a wasted weekend.

You, sir, suck in the worst possible way.  And I mean that in the best way possible. Wink

So, will this mean that E-Space will be fully functional soon enough?

E-space is what it is.  It's networked and ships can fly around.  I don't remember what I was holding off putting out a version for but I kind of just have to push forward.
276  Development / Blog / Fallout 4... on: November 13, 2015, 03:14:24 AM
Ok, so it's not what you think.  I have not purchased Fallout 4.  It is not consuming any of my free time.

It's my reward... when I finish something else.

I've arranged to take the entire week of Thanksgiving off this year.  Ostensibly, this is to get networking into Mythruna finally once and for all.  I almost hate to write these words down because fate always conspires against me to make me eat those words.  So assuming no new health issues come up, no major breakage of personal property, no new family injuries or emergencies, that's the plan.  But in the last two years, every time I make hard plans like that, something comes along to derail it all.  Here's hoping that doesn't happen this time.

In the mean time, I have to knock a bunch of things off of my virtual to-do list in preparation and so far I'm making good progress there.  Some are even things I have to do out in the 'big blue room' before winter hits full time.

I really want to be playing Fallout 4.  My son also really wants to be playing Fallout 4.  It has taken all of my self control not to take this week off of work with 'radiation sickness' to play it.  Unfortunately, that's the reason why it would be entirely counter-productive to have it.

So it is my reward.  If the stars align and I'm able to get networking into Mythruna this month then December will be Fallout 4 month.  The additional benefit is now my son is nagging me, too.

Went ahead and added the Math Attack music to my music page:
http://www.simsilica.com/music/

They are kind of 'throw-away' songs but they get stuck in my head... so they can't be all bad. Smiley  They seem to work ok for ambient music.
278  General Category / General Discussion / Math Attack! on: November 13, 2015, 02:29:59 AM
Several weeks ago I was lamenting that fact that I've been too busy so far this year to run math flash cards with my kids at dinner time.  Long story short, I started developing a Math Flashcard game in bits and pieces an hour here and an hour there.  The nice thing was that this let me polish a bunch of stuff in some of my other open source packages and fix some bugs, etc..  In the end, I was even able to (finally) publish an animation package as part of my Lemur UI toolkit.  (I'd attempted to write one three times already so I'm glad to have that _huge_ to-do item off my plate.)

Anyway, the game is 'done' for now.  There are still features that I'd like to add but all of the important ones are there.  I've polished the game front-to-back (what's there) and even made the screen transitions a little 'juicy' using the new animation library.  It's even got its own theme music that I put together the weekend before last.

Here is the game page if you want to check it out:
http://www.simsilica.com/games/math-attack/

It's nice because the levels can be fully configured as can the achievement rules.  I've set the current rules up for my kids because I'm supposed to take them out for ice cream if they practice enough.  (That was one of the old daily dinner flashcards motivations, too.)

Here are some screen shots (also on the gallery on that page):

Glass is cool.

Oooh operation "track paul"...

Technically if i had your email address i could find out your browsing and purchasing information from my company.... Well that is if you ever bought from one of our clients. You would be surprised at some of the things we come up in our investigations

Yeah, the thing is... when you post a photo to the internet then you never know where it might end up and what it might be associated with... so I always try to anonymize them as much as possible.

Lol i find it funny you blacked out even the trash can.

I took no chances that the phone number might unnecessarily narrow down my location. Smiley  Plus, I was already blacking things out so just went ahead and blacked out anything that looked numeric.

In reality, I'm in the phone book so anyone could probably look up my address... probably even go and see my house from the air in google maps.

Wow pspeed the graphics are so realistic! I can't wait to see this in-game!

LOL.  Yeah, it requires a bit more skill than many games, too.

Nice.

What my son went as for Halloween this year:

To me, not as cool as last year when he went as Deadpool.

What I've been making bits of progress on here and there when the weather is right and I have time at the same time.

285  General Category / Announcements / Router swap... on: October 28, 2015, 03:32:35 PM
I finally swapped out my aging router for a newer one... seems faster so far.

I've done my best to transfer the configuration from the old router but it's possible things might be messed up somehow.  So, if there are any new problems connecting to the Mythruna server then let me know.
