31  Development / Concepts / Re: Creature Concepts: Takwin on: July 30, 2013, 07:13:57 PM
wait won't the npcs eventually make the connection that the player indirectly brings the takwins with them eventually driving the player the player out of town?
SPOILER: What I'm saying comes from Paul's spoilers
They only spawn in areas with specific, magic-related, conditions. The NPCs might be smart enough to make the connection from a couple instances, which is all that could feasibly occur. I don't know if the NPCs will be able to form superstitions (hopefully!), but if they can they might try burning you at the stake or something.

AH-HA! The old cpu was underneath the fan!
Does the computer work now?

Awesome system!

Yeah, all containers will be custom in fact.  I worked out how this interface will work just a few weeks ago as far as inventory management goes.
+1

It's funny because the math I came up with for doing this (treating 3D objects as 2D in a layout) shouldn't work.  But surprisingly it does for every object I've come up with so far.  There are some cases where two objects next to each other might look strange but not as often as you would think... and generally it only happens with really large round objects (like a barrel) that you wouldn't put in a backpack anyway.

If it turns out to work as well as it does on paper then it means that a bag is a consistent size in inventory management... so it takes up the same size in your pack as roughly the objects it holds would.  Hard to describe without getting low level into the details and I'd rather discover the issues during implementation... but basically it involves scaling the 2D view of an object by its relative depth.  So something long, thin, and flat like a sword might look slightly disproportionately scaled next to something more cube shaped.  But since the rescale is based on the whole 2D profile, it's not as bad as you'd think.

It's a nice compromise, I think.  Hopefully it turns out to work.  Smiley
If I understand, and I think I do, that sounds pretty cool.

You say the math shouldn't work. What level of math would I have to know to understand why?

This thread might contain some information for you: http://mythruna.com/forum/index.php?topic=330.0
The whole Concepts board is probably the most interesting on the forums.

guising il have to buy a differnt computer if I want to ply.
Is your computer a desktop or a laptop?

If it's a desktop, you can probably just buy a new video card.
37  General Category / General Discussion / Re: ships on: July 20, 2013, 08:30:27 AM
If Paul can do it, you will basically be able to make everything in every process as customized as you like, within the confines of realism. (For example, you could make a sword with five blades if you (the gamer) were good enough at the blacksmighing mini game thing to make it. It wouldn't bevery easy to wield, though)

But if Paul can't do it, he might have to nerd some things.

Ya i did take the computer all apart and de-dust it i was not to bad but my harddrive i think is whats getting so hot damn computer designers not putting fans near it just vent holes

i have a acer ASPIRE
intel pentium processor t4300 2.1 GHz,800Mhz FSB
4 gb memory
320 HDD
intel GmA 4500M up to 1695 mb Dvmt

should these be able to run mythruna smoothly becouse it doesnt real work very smooth for me. and any ideas to raise my fps
Pressing F12 changes render distance. It starts at 128 every time you start the game, and goes to 160, 192, 64
Pressing F9 turns off post-processing effects, which might help
Pressing F8 turns on low-quality shaders, which might help
Pressing enter to open the chat and typing "/flora low" and "/trees low" (without the quotes) helps a lot of people
Your hard drive might affect how long the game takes to load, but I don't think it has any effect on in-game speed.
39  Player's Corner / Gallery / Re: Random far horizon pic... on: July 18, 2013, 07:09:24 AM
To me, in the real picture there's a horizon line where it (obviously) should be. In the Mythruna pics there's a discernible border between the ocean and a white stripe, then between the stripe and the sky. The stripe doesn't seem like it should be there.

Worst case scenario: some wise guy puts two mirrors together and crashes the game. I see the problem now
Portal can do it though.

If you put a portal in front of you and behind you then how many portals can you see through before it stops?

How many portals can you place in Portal?  I thought it was just two.  That's a few less than thousands and thousands. Wink
I believe it stops around seven layers, and you can only have two in Portal 1. It kinda fades out into fogginess, so the transition isn't to obvious.
I have a mirror on two of my walls that are parallel to each other, the amount of "portals" I see is quite infinite.
In the video game Portal?
Or were you not trying to correct me?

Clothing options with even full face ninja masks that only show the eyes would be a good basic option.
That would make a cool custom skin!
I hope we can make clothes with enough detail to do that sort of thing.

Woah, wasn't expecting such positive feedback on first attempt at composing. I'm glad everyone liked. I composed 8 other pieces since I posted this...and I thank Mythruna for inspiring me to compose all the sudden. If you want to check out the rest heres the link to my current pieces which I update constanlty. https://soundcloud.com/rickyricardo1117/sets/original-works.

Once again thanks for all the positive feedback!!! Grin
Overall, pretty good!
Silibus, Sneak, Strum, and Flow are good, but sound a little unpolished. I don't know exactly how to help this, though.
Savannah is quite good, but could use a bit more variation in the background guitar.
Try to give Intro more of a build-up. Also, you could try adding a finishing swell followed by repeatable calm music for a menu background (just because it's called Intro)
No suggestions for Finale, but there's probably something that could be improved Tongue
Strum sounds great at first, but quickly gets repetitive. Strum slowly doesn't sound quite as good because it sounds like you're stuck either having one instrument play one note, and the other changing notes, or having them changing the same notes. It's fine in the faster version, but doesn't work with the slower one.
I really like Bloom. It has good build up, and a nice melody. Maybe it could use some more variety in the Xylophone thing in the background, but the biggest improvement I can think of is to make it longer!
