"The Whispers"?
47  Development / Concepts / Re: Races on: December 08, 2012, 03:57:27 PM
In general, if there are still underwater reptilians in existence then they have been completely isolated from the rest of the world cultures... even there own desert-dwelling cousins.  It is unlikely that they would keep air pockets for other races though not impossible.
I was thinking of this as a more recent addition to the cities and towns, something that would occur in more open communities since their contact and dealings with land-dwelling races.

However, there may be reasons that a reptilian needs to use fire or other heat magic that would require a sizable air pocket.
Cooking fish?
re: larger buildings:  Government buildings, markets, churches, etc..  If there is a market at a reptilian city then it is unlikely to be an "open sea" market.  Or if it is then it's a large constructed plaza.  Can you imagine trying to run a market right on the sea floor?  Silt being kicked up around you, large schools of fish just swimming through, etc..  In the middle of a city, I could see a raised stone plaza but otherwise I think markets will be indoor.
Wow, you seriously do think of everything, don't you?

In many ways, you're brain is still developing.  The programming bug could come back later.

There was a wide swath of my young life where I was more interested in hanging out with friends and chasing girls or whatever to concentrate on sitting in front of a computer. Smiley
I don't think it is coming back, unfortunately. I think when you lose 3 months of work and roughly 384,000 lines of hand-typed code when an older brother wipes your computer and your first ever game along with it that bug kinda... dies. :L
The thing that really annoys me is that I was, when I was 12, making a 2 dimensional mmorpg kinda like an unevolved Mythruna. I had the game set up so that an admin or moderator could alter the world at will without interrupting gameplay for the players by placing things around the world a block at a time. A Mod or Admin could "under construction" tape off an area (players in the area are automatically teleported to the nearest safe area) to build in and then open it up. When it was wiped I was halfway through setting up the ability for mods and admins to put quests in-game and had started working on setting up properties and "free" areas where the regular players could build.

Dropped it after that, have many other hobbies.

ANYWAY; back to the topic; Mr Speed, have you any other works for us?
49  Development / Features / Re: The Property System on: December 08, 2012, 03:19:42 PM
Sounds amazing. I seriously can't wait to get on this. Griefers wind me up SO MUCH!
Few questions:
1) Will the same system be in place in NPC towns and will it be possible to get a plot in an NPC town or city? (I'd love to live among the NPCs)
2) Would it be possible to put a "For Sale" or "For Rent" sign up in a town or city if you own the plot to make sales easier?
3) What kind of government systems are you thinking of? Will it all be talk between mayors or will there be a built-in system for government.
4) Would you also set up a "key" system? E.G. I want to let someone have a wander in my place but don't want every Tom, Dick and Harry dropping in, could I give that person access without letting them alter my lovely home?
5) How is rent going to be collected? And if someone doesn't make it how's that going to go down?

Ok, so this mysterious "8th race"... Anything you're willing to say on the matter?
51  Development / Concepts / Re: Skills and training... on: December 08, 2012, 02:27:26 PM
Always good to learn. :L
52  Development / Concepts / Re: Character Stories... on: December 08, 2012, 02:24:21 PM
You started learning or anything yet?
53  Development / Concepts / Re: Character Stories... on: December 08, 2012, 02:11:07 PM
Aye, I read that elsewhere in the forums. You also wanna become a programmer one day if I'm not mistaken?

I'm 19.
55  General Category / Announcements / Re: Do you think this game should: on: December 08, 2012, 01:33:00 PM
I think:
Alpha: Free.
Basic Beta: Free. Use it like a demo with loads of bits where it's like "In the full game [THIS] is/will available." to tease people.
Basic Game: £20 (about $32). Keep players informed of full game updates to tempt them to upgrade.
-Upgrade to Latest incl. free updates: £10 ($16)
Full Game (Incl. free updates): £25 ($40)

I'd be willing to pay more than that, personally, but the more you charge the less people will buy it and you'd probably make more money being cheaper.

EDIT: While I'm on the subject I do hope to donate once I'm done with Christmas and debts. Probably late January, February time.

You say that, and I really hope so but I've played games before where it's an inherit skill and I've just been like "Whuuuu?!"
57  Development / Concepts / Re: Character Stories... on: December 08, 2012, 01:20:15 PM
well if you ever want help with editing, i'm told i'm very good at english/writing  Wink
Same here. I stopped programming in year 8 of school (I was about 12) and have since lost any knack for coding I once had but I'd love to find any way to be a part of this project. I'm quite proud of my own writings and a lot of people who've seen my work have enjoyed it. I'd be happy ecstatic honoured to help edit your writings, more so to possibly provide some myself. I'll be happy to show you some of my work if you want.
58  Development / Concepts / Re: Skills and training... on: December 08, 2012, 12:48:12 PM
With the skills that have prerequisite skills; how specific would the prerequisites be?
For example: would I have to learn to carve wood before I can learn to carve a bow; or would I have to learn different aspects of cooking or could I just learn to cook and be able to throw a chicken onto a fire as easily as stuff it, season it and slow spit-roast it? (Just examples, I'm not expecting to have to season my food)

and, what sort of skills would you not need to learn, for example I saw horse-riding mentioned somewhere. Would we innately be able to ride a horse and fire a bow while standing in the saddle or would we have to learn to ride first or learn to ride and then learn to ride whilst handling weaponry?

FYI, It annoys me that I, in real life, can't ride a horse but game characters seem to have a natural, unexplained gift for it :L

Just the idea that there are no roads.  The city would somehow layout more 3D than a regular town since it isn't required to stick to a 2D layout.  So your entrances and exits can be pretty much anywhere for a building
Yes! I hate when you see in TV, Films and the odd game an underwater FLAT city when an underwater city isn't BOUND by gravity the same way as a surface city.

and most doors would actually be on the bottoms of structures.
Genius. This could also allow buildings like I mentioned before with the trapped air so non-aquatic creatures could use these buildings too. Possibly more common in political or trading buildings for the sake of better inter-racial relations and trading? (The reason I'm really hoping for this is because I'd probably want to be an avain which would make navigating an underwater city somewhat problematic without air-pockets to use)

I imagine towers and adjoining arches and stuff with different types of building pods attached around for housing.
Nice, this would certainly give the cities a very epic feel which is perfect as it'll give the whole place more of a treat to discover.

Then there would be standard main buildings that are up on pillars or rooted solidly into the ground.
What kind of "main" buildings did you envision for the underwater cities? The same as the normal towns or are there any additional ones you'd thought of?

I'm imagining it as if you tried to adapt gothic architecture to a combination sand castles and coral formations.
Love it. I'm really getting an Atlantis-style feel to this.

That's probably clearer in my head.
I wish I could see what's in your head, this sounds amazing, man.

...someday I will draw some concept art and/or just make a concept city to play with ideas.
:O Please do! I would LOVE to see these.

Sorry for my messages being so long. I just have lots to say.
60  Development / Concepts / Re: Races on: December 07, 2012, 03:14:57 PM
I think Paul said some of the reptilians will still live under water.

Yep.  I even have a conceptual idea in mind for how their cities will look.

:O You're actually planning underwater cities? I'm gonna go ahead and bow down now....

Seriously, though, that sounds amazing, anything you can share on the underwater city concepts?

Also:
After reading this i instantly imagined the underwater race in star wars with the giant bubbles and then citys within them also how they seemed angery towards the human people seems similar to what you said Tongue
Haven't watched Star Wars in a loooong time, think I was about 8 or 9 years old. Tried to watch it since but I really can't get into it.

btw welcome to the mythruna community :]

Thank you.
