it doesnt matter which settings i choose in the launcer i can only see the upper left corner of what im supposed to see. i can see the "single" in singleplayer and a compass in the corner. does anyone know how to fix this?

It sounds like you picked a bad window size... like a super small one or one  bigger than your monitor supports or something.

Can you paste the client.log?
