grant is for giving permissions.

giveprop is for giving properties.

If you do a who and user "dudeman" is ID 12 then:
~giveprop 12 stronghold
or town or city

when you say "help" it gives you the options:
Code:
1. copy
2. exit
3. gc
4. grant
5. help
6. kick
7. mem
8. print
9. report
10. send
11. threads
12. uptime
13. where
14. who

when i type to give myself a property on the command console, and type:
Code:
~giveprop 0 town

It says "ERROR: Command not found:giveprop"

Like many of the admin commands, they only work when you are logged into the actual game... not from the server console.

While logged into the game you can use the ~help chat command to see what commands are available.

You are an admin if you have the "admin" grant.  You can also check this by using the grant command with only the user as an option (ie: don't include a grant name)... it will list the current grants for the user.
