If you dont have java it will not work, java is a free download

Macs used to come with Java installed already until very recently.

D:
Try installing an older version, or get help from Help.com
when you get to java.com and select to download it, on a sidebar it says "looking for java 6?"

We live in a Java 7 world. Also make sure you aren't downloading the Windows versing if you are on a Mac.

Apple used to provide their own Java until very recently.  Unfortunately, I don't know how to trouble-shoot these problems on a Mac and I keep hoping another Mac user might be watching these forums.

However, I think Java 7 is the only version you can get from java.com for Macs because prior to that Apple supplied their own version.

However, it seems like this Mac might be really really old... so maybe it even predates Apple's Java.  We haven't been provided any specs about the machine so I'm only guessing.

Perhaps you should discuss this with someone who knows and understands Java or Macs? This is obviously an issue of the computer itself, and I think there's other people on the internet who have the expertise to easily handle this.
