So, this has been kind of bugging me for a while. Figure it's worth asking, as it's been something I just assumed at this point.  

Right now we have, what, 5 or 6 varieties of non-tree plants? Will we eventually have a large number of unique (and uniquely functioning) plants/animals, or would there be more... concise collections of plants used across the biomes?

Well, for what it's worth, I'd personally prefer more plants over less... but I'm probably a bit biased considering the fact that I'm a biology major and bored easily. I can understand how that kind of variety may increase the workload and confuse people, though.
