It really sounds like a poor laptop design or faulty fans.
I have a laptop here that I have a new fan for but before that was running something I needed to finish and it started overheating. So I took a hair dryer (on the 'cool' setting) and blow it solid in the vents. Other than the dust that kicked up, that laptop never ran so well.

It's faulty cooling/design. The GPU lies ontop of the motherboard.
