You go through the groovy documentation and tutorials.  I cannot explain it better.  And since I think that's the third time I've offered that suggestion I don't really want to provide it again.

Well, you downloaded files and that part was easy.  Presumably you unzipped them and that part was easy.  Now you want to know how to use it so you look in the documentation.  It's not like a game where you double click some .exe and it walks you through everything... you have to expend some energy to learn how to use it.

I think I'm starting to understand what to do. In order to use Groovy, I need a tool for it. What tool do you use?
I also need to download a Java JDK

I guess I can't understand what the issue is.  The very first documentation link on the groovy site:
http://groovy.codehaus.org/Installing+Groovy

And this is gone over again in the "Getting Started" section of the manual:
http://groovy.codehaus.org/Tutorial+1+-+Getting+started

If that stuff is too hard then wait a year or two and come back to it maybe.  This part is super simple stuff and if it gives you trouble then the next steps will be pretty impossible.

I don't know about Paul, but your posts irritate the hell outta me. I hold my thoughts but since you brought it up thought I would let you know.  I understand your enthusiasm for this game and respect for Paul. So yeah focus your efforts in a more productive way. Take more classes in coding as soon as you can and build websites for things you do. I'll shut up now, goodnight.

I also feel this way, the main problem with forums to date, Is that people don't think ahead about others since they can't see or hear them. But hey, It's not like I can help it. Smiley. About coding, I'm nearly wedged between a hard place, and frustation with JS. (javascript). I've got basics down... Trying to get used to boolean, and integers. All in all, I'm learning! Not using a tutorial either. Using a mod for Minecraft called "CubeX2's CustomStuff" The help file tells you about functions. Once I get the basics over, I could probably check out something else. *stretches* The 9th grade starting of highschool is embarrassing. (onlineschool) "What effected the average human size over the years?" (teachers question) Everyone puts down "Fast food!" "Cheese burgers and fries". Next was "What could you do to help the environment?" People put "Recycling" which was OK in my opinion. Until I saw someone put "Be vegetarian". I just... *Sighs*

I didn't take classes - I learned it from the INTERNET! Wink

I don't understand the setup process. I realise that i need a tool to use groovy, and I need a JDK. but i don't know where to put the file locations like GROOVY_HOME and such. I am really sorry, you said that i do not understand, I do not understand the process in which to set up. For my tool, I want to use Notepad++

Yeah, so maybe wait a year or so and come back to this later.  If this part is giving you trouble then the rest will be impossible.  This is like the simplest part.  Those instructions even tell you how to use groovy directly in a shell just to try it.

I think you are looking for some fancy wizbang all in one press a button and make magic solution.  You will not find it.  Edit a text file.  Run the text file in groovy.  That's pretty much all there is to it and is EXACTLY what is described in those links you didn't really read.

Cheesy wizbang! nothing happened  Undecided I have read over those thinks alot in a month. It tells me

Quote
set your GROOVY_HOME environment variable to the directory you unpacked the distribution.

going into Notepad++..

would i insert the groovy folder or files on the first into Notepad++?

or would i go into unicode:

or another one of those folders or simply place it in the directory "unicode"
NOTE: you are saying for me to wait a while. but that determines me more. for the explanations, my brain is not processing it. Most 12-year olds do not know how to program.

Notepad has NOTHING to do with setting an environment variable.  If you don't know how to set an environment variable then this is already too hard.

google is your friend.
