Title: FPS ingame concerning Java
Post by: Trecool on October 21, 2011, 03:22:05 AM
I think, that it's Notch the problem.. He adds more items, more mob, more features while it's time to optimize Minecraft !

Look at this..

1.2 : 60-100FPS
1.6.6 : 30-50FPS
1.9 : 12-25 FPS..

I have Windows Seven 64 bits with 6Go of Ram, ATI radeon 4870 Vapor-X 2Go DDR5 and HDD in Raid 0 !! WTF  :o

If the Mojang Team continues like That. Minecraft is Out..

Curious: what kind of FPS are you getting with Mythruna?   Do you leave it at default clip or extend the clip?

I have noticed that more recent versions of Minecraft seem to have a lot more video options... and some of them confuse me.  I think 1.7 might be the last version I ran here... or maybe 1.6.

With Mythruna, I have 30-50 FPS at 192Clip.
128Clip, I have 75-100 FPS. But I'm in fullscreen 1920x1080.. No Vsync
Minimum FPS : 30
Maximum FPS : 120

Since the Piston(1.7), there are more freeze and FPS problem..

If you add, add, add, add... And you don't optimize that.. The game explode xD
Notch use Java on alpha and Beta release.. And since the 1.7.. he developed in C++ and Python.
It's a strange mixture for a game I think.. But I'm not a developer :)

What's your opinion at this subject?

It seems odd to switch.  Maybe he's done some parts in C++ or something or maybe just some python integration but a total rewrite would have been pretty ridiculous and pointless.

But honestly, I don't really know what they are up to exactly and don't intend to look.

My scripting language is already integrated.  Physics and AI will cause performance hits but I don't think anything on that scale.  And certainly in multiplayer the server will be doing most of the work.
