I'm just wondering how all of these would be made and how they would work.
That is interesting, setting up the UI, AI, whatever it is to actually recognize what you are creating, unless there will be a thing in the building menu that takes you to sections that will allow the game to recognize what you are building, and it would be cool for it to recognize if the barrel isn't blocked by something Smiley

On a more creative note though, I'd just go for old fashioned swords and such.
Obviously to arm the crew of my flying airship with mounted cannons.

Then that would have to be a hard process, so it makes it worth it; on the other hand it may have to contain magic chemicals to keep it powered, and it could have defects, leading to your enemy being healed and you getting hurt.

It would have to be powered by something, though... and generally, to tap into your own magic field to absorb damage then it would have to plug into one of your slots.  There may be other ways to achieve this affect (forming a large bubble around yourself) but that would require a lot of power... and giving you the health back would almost certainly require a slotted component of some kind.  Though it may be separate from the actual object... not sure how efficient spirit crystals will be in this kind of use.

The bottom line is that to catch the damage you'd have to use enough power to counteract the damage... or the damage (or some of it) would come through anyway.

A pencil that teleports dragons to my location using their own life-force, kills them, and enchants their remains to become servile lava golems.
