Just wanted to say that when you guys go off-topic, you completely derail XD
Cool stuff though, other than the fact that my brain hurts now -.-

Still another story I saw had the time travelers return to their own time and it was different... but all of the new histories were folded into their memory with the old ones.  If they changed too many things too many times then they started to go crazy.

Where did you see this? Seem really interesting.

Nanomachines.

/end debate Tongue

Seriously though, that guy in the video (and the whole team including the interviewer) just oozes suspicion. However I do still hope this is legit, for the gaming industries sake.

I hope that this is real Tongue My mind boggles at the thought of what could be done with this.

That looks nice, I think I should come check it out.

I think it would be cool if some people worked together so that we could have some meaningful roads on the server.

That was the nice thing about a lot of the original building when the server first started.  People were pretty good about building roads to everything.

...then the griefers descended and I think most of the new developments are happy to toil in unconnected obscurity. Smiley

Someday I need to figure out a way to make ungriefable roads.

It may seem a bit harsh, but maybe make build rights on your public server a Donor only option?
5  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Suggestion: Custom Blocks on: March 17, 2012, 09:28:03 AM
Makes sense. Perhaps an "auto-snap-to-grid" type setting/feature? Or would that still pose the problem of too many player dropping too many objects?
6  General Category / General Discussion / Suggestion: Custom Blocks on: March 17, 2012, 08:19:58 AM
First off, sorry if this belongs somewhere else. Also, I know I'm prolly a bit new here to be posting suggestions but I think this is a pretty legitimate one.

Basically, you could use the blueprint system to create a custom block that would be its own block type, similar to the object tool. The main difference being that you just plop it down like any other block and it snaps to the block your reticle is on, just like any other block. I understand that this is kind of possible right now with the blueprint tool (make something within 4x4 and then use the snap tools) but the time taken to achieve this could be severely downsized with a separate tool imho.

This sounded a bit better in my head, but I think I got the point across  Undecided

Our first cat was named Mal. People thought it was from the latin meaning, and ususally we just let them believe what they want Tongue

Awesome character. (Then again they were all truly great, it's just that I got a soft spot in my heart for that character Tongue )

My wife just finished the Hunger Games series, and as for Firefly... one word... KAYLEE :O
10  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Games I've been playing recently on: March 16, 2012, 07:05:38 PM
Vessel is a 2d side-scrolling fluid based physics puzzle game (damn that's a mouthful Tongue )
and
APB:R is a F2P cops vs. robbers shooter set in an open city, with car combat etc. (think Grand Theft Auto)

Also if you haven't seen, DF just got a HUGE update. Adventure mode is FUN now ( not just !FUN!)

Terraria, Dwarf Fortress, Vessel, APB:Reloaded

Dwarf Fortress is the best out of these imho, also it's free Tongue

Well, and right now Mythruna is essentially exactly like Minecraft creative because it's just a test engine.  The best way for me to test my engine was to let players put whatever they wanted, wherever they wanted.

When "game mode" is built out enough that it is the default mode, then things start to get clearer.

But on top of that, a few other features will resonate as "different" when they are included in the stock game, I hope.

...when I can show a generated city with a thriving NPC population.

...when I can show a video of chopping a tree down... like hack hack hack... "Timber!" as it falls over sideways.

...when I can shoot a video of a house burning down and collapsing under its own weight as the flames sap its supporting structure.

...when there is a bobbing sailing ship at the docks that you can talk to the captain or purser and book passage.

...when you can forge your own sword in any shape you want, etc.

...creating your own magic based devices.

...glimpses of the seven races of Mythruna.

Some of these are not too far off and can be nice 30 second glimpses into "what's different".  Short and to the point.

I have a written story-board for a trailer.  I'm considering turning it into an simple mostly hand-drawn animatic when I have more concept art completed.  Then filling in the sections that get implemented as they come online.  I just have to see where the work takes me.

My jaw was dropped reading this... literally. The tree bit really hits home with me. Levitating treetops have always been a pet peeve of mine. (On my MC server it is a bannable offense to leave half cut floating trees Tongue )
