Do you think Mythruna's terrain should be less blocky? The textures look very realistic, why not make the terrain realistic too? An example would be like Yogventures: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTLCRDYr6mc

I personally think the terrain would look even better than it does now. And, it would stop those Minecraft fanboys from calling Mythruna a "Minecraft clone." What do you guys think?

I tried to get terrain like this working for many years before starting on Mythruna.  That's been covered in interviews and stuff.  These engines are fraught with a whole bunch of different limitations and it would suck away a few years of my life getting it to work right.

Instead, I will work on finishing the game I already started. Smiley

Don't worry, Paul said that he will add more realism in the future updates Smiley

EDIT: oh, you already replied, I went AFK for hours.

Words may be mean and harsh. But those who speak harsh are missing out on fun. It's best to ignore hating of a blocky setting as it would just be a waste of time fighting people saying "Minecraft clone".

A clone is a complete exact. Graphics Check: Better. Ambient: Better. Characters: Realistic-ish. Same-Blocks: DENIED!

It was a reasonable question on the part of the original poster.  We don't need to digress too far.

i like the way Starforge has been doing their random terrain. but for this kind of game blocks are not a problem  Smiley maybe once paul has all released Mythruna for a year or so, he can work on a sequal that mostly like Mythruna but without blocks... I think it would be worth doing.

StarForge looks cool.  It looks like they did it properly by basically combining an isosurface engine and a block engine.  It looks like they've really cranked up their FOV in a weird way to make the horizons seem farther away but it works well for this sort of game.
