in terms of like parrying power and blade control

Your strength is your power and you (the player) control the blade.
wait strength does that mean the player has level rpgish stats?
I suggest waiting and seeing exactly what Paul has up his sleeve. Anyway, nothing is set in stone as it is only the pre-alpha stage.
Yeah. If us not being able to talk or know what Paul's up to for a week means he'll release this Alpha sooner, I'd say "HEY PAUL! Ignore everything we say until you have that Alpha done and ready for us!" :3... It would be so worth it..... sadly though, if this was the case, then how much of a difference would it make?
I hope the alpha is released soon finding out through playing IS easier than barraging him with my arsenal of questions

There will be character attributes.  The only thing I know for sure is that "strength" is one of them.  a) they don't have an input device that properly lets us put our own strength into a game, and b) "role playing" wouldn't be much fun if we were limited to the roles of "person with the strength of a frequent computer user".  Smiley

I'd hope so! If I could slay a dragon with my side-to-side attacks from my sword, I would hope that would get me eaten if I attempted with a spear....

And I KNOW that won't ever happen. If I can EVER kill a dragon like that, I will rage-quit so hard. I want it to be the way Paul said, "If I can defeat it, it's too easy!" :3... AKA, I want it to be a challenge, like 10,000 Let's plays are made in an attempt to defeat a dragon.... and only ONE ever did!!!! AND HE HAD A MILLION OTHER PLAYERS HELPING HIM TOO! Cheesy? Yes? No? Yes.. Dragons should require team-work to kill. Lots of it. I mean, lots. Lots. And more, lots.

That too. But I'd say a trillion set as a minimum. Any number below that would be OP... 1 Player = 1,000 NPCs. So if you have two players, then you can knock it down 2,000 NPCs. :3

Sure.  the are different lengths, different weights, the blades are in different parts... swinging them will feel very different.

I don't think wearing armor is a skill.

How will this work with "creative" weapons made by the players? Will the game analyze it and decide if it's a sword, spear, or halberd? Or will you have to learn how to fight with you new weapon on your own since there isn't a predetermined skill for it? (Or, my least favorite option, will you tell the game what you just made?)

The engine already knows what objects are made of, what their center of gravity is, etc..  Between that and knowing where the pointy bits are, it's up to you to learn how to use it effectively.
